Who We Are

NOLA Black Mental Health Matters is a collective of mental health stakeholders committed to mental health advocacy, education, and access for the cultures of Black New Orleans.

Our Mission

Through our shared responsibility to NOLA’s Black communities, NOLABMHM demonstrates commitment to reducing mental health stigma and eliminating barriers to treatment by providing programming that advocates for healing and wellness within the cultures of Black New Orleans.

Our Vision

We envision a future where members New Orleans's Black community have reliable and consistent access to quality mental health care and resources.

Core Values

Collaboration

Empowering Black and pro-Black members of the New Orleans community to prioritize their mental health requires ongoing collaboration. We love collaborating with diverse partners who connect with our vision and are committed to uplifting our people.

Black Culture

While mental health is important to the collective culture, Black American history emphasizes the importance of pro-Black and anti-racist approaches to mental health. New Orleans bears a culture all its own, and our emphasis on Black mental health is our contribution to the cultural landscape.

Community

Community is our "why", "who", and "what". NOLABMHM is intentional in producing programming that builds and supports community.

Accessibility

NOLABMHM strives for increased access to quality mental health care. This involves psychoeducation and advocacy.
